• Identify Defects and Data Issues to Improve Software Integrity

Issue
A Global Leader in Low-Carbon Energy, has implemented Zema Suite software in order to automate data collection and provide centralized data access. To complete the implementation and provide users with a high level of comfort and confidence in the new system, key queries written on legacy systems need to be converted to Zema, Zema data integrity needs to be validated, missing data needs to be identified, Zema GUI bugs and defects need to be identified, reported and remedied.
Solution 
> Partner with key users, business leads and project sponsors to understand the needs of the business, document them (via requirements documents, use cases and process diagrams), and determine the appropriate, most cost-effective short term and long-term solutions to meet them.
> Convert the SQL based on the data architecture of the legacy system to the data architecture of Zema: Rewrite the SQL, test and tie out the results between the legacy and Zema systems.
> Develop automated data validation tools that check Zema tables for date gaps and missing data
> Identify Zema data tables that potentially have missing records or data gaps and submit findings to ZE Support for remedy: Was able to determine that 10% of the critical data tables were identified as missing data.
> Test the Zema GUI for defects and bugs and submit findings to ZE Support for remedy: One critical finding was that the user interface could not perform mathematical functions when the returned record count exceeded 500,000 records, and there was no warning to the user that the values presented were grossly inaccurate. Dozens and dozens of other defects were also identified and submitted for remedy.
> Develop and implement an automated application to identify Zema Processor CRON scheduling issues, time zone reporting issues, and potentially out-of-date data issues
